Youths of Mbar Ward in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State have countered the former lawmaker who represented Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Solomon Maren, following claims he made that he had initiated several projects in the zone during his two tenures in the National Assembly.
Maren, who formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday, had, while addressing his supporters, claimed that while he was in the National Assembly, he had initiated and completed many projects across the constituency, including roads, health facilities, as well as empowering youths and providing employment for thousands of people.
But in a swift reaction to Maren’s claims, a group under the banner of ‘Concerned Youths for Good Governance’ debunked his claims, saying his time in the House of Representatives was a disaster, as he did not do anything tangible for his constituents.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the youth group said it was laughable for Maren to claim projects done by other lawmakers when he had not executed them.
The group said it was even more irking, insulting, and disgraceful that Maren was desperately trying to rewrite history by parading fictitious achievements before the people.
“We, the Concerned Youths for Good Governance in Mbar Ward, Bokkos LGA, rise to vehemently refute the misleading, self-glorifying, and deceptive claims made by Hon. Solomon Maren, former member of the House of Representatives for Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency, during his defection event to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on 11th October 2025,” the youths wrote.
Continuing, the statement said:
“Hon. Maren’s desperate attempt to rewrite history and parade fictitious achievements before the people is both insulting and disgraceful. His claim that the hospital project in Magi Community was his initiative is an outright falsehood, that project was executed by Hon. Lalu, not Maren.
“For eight long years in the National Assembly, Mbar Ward was completely abandoned. No single meaningful project, no empowerment, no investment, not even a modest development footprint in his own hometown.
“Ironically, a man who represented us for nearly a decade does not even own a home in Mbar, the very soil that birthed him. His only political tradition has been deception during elections, bringing in road construction machines to hoodwink the people, making empty promises of road projects, and conveniently removing the machines once votes were secured.
“That deceitful era is over. The people of Mbar are now politically enlightened and will never be fooled again.
“It is laughable and hypocritical for Hon. Maren to attack the administration of His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, when the evidence of good governance under this administration is visible across Mbar and beyond.
“Under Governor Mutfwang, Mbar has witnessed unprecedented transformation, the renovation of Government Secondary School (GSS) Mbar into a modern institution, the Mbar–Magama road project worth billions of naira, rehabilitation of primary schools, boreholes for irrigation and domestic use, farm inputs for displaced farmers, youth empowerment, and restoration of security leading to the safe return of displaced persons.
“These are tangible, verifiable developments, not imaginary projects concocted for political convenience. Even the so-called Mbar Town Hall credited to Maren remains substandard, poorly executed, and incomplete, symbolizing his years of failure, neglect, and betrayal of the very people he was elected to serve.
“We therefore call on Hon. Solomon Maren to desist from peddling lies and deceiving the public with fabricated records of non-existent achievements. His political antics no longer hold sway in Mbar. We have seen through the façade, and the people have spoken with their votes.
“We, the Concerned Youths for Good Governance, reaffirm our unwavering support for Governor Caleb Mutfwang, whose leadership has brought genuine progress to our communities. We stand for truth, accountability, and the liberation of Mbar Ward from the shackles of deceitful politicians who only remember their people during elections.”
