THERE are unwritten rules when it comes to weddings, don’t show up late, don’t drink too much and definitely don’t wear white.
However, as one bride discovered, some people believe these rules don’t apply to them.
A bride was left horrified after her stepmum turned up in white to her weddingCredit: reddit
Taking to Reddit a newlywed shared the nightmare experience she had with her stepmum on her wedding day.
She shared a snap taken on her big day, earlier this year showing herself wearing a gorgeous white ball gown, and her stepmum also in a full white ensemble.
Captioning her post she wrote: “I got married earlier this year and I’d like to share the experience I had with my step mom.
“My sister is in the bathroom doing her hair step mom walks in before going out for dinner with some of her friends.”
She goes on to explain that her stepmother showed the dress she planned to wear and her sister, believing it was for dinner that evening agreed it was ‘cute.’
But when she learned it was what the stepmum was planning to wear on the wedding day she warned her that she couldn’t wear that.
The bride added: “As you can see by the photo she did in fact wear the cream coloured dress AND also showed up to my rehearsal dinner in a full white outfit!
“She did go “shopping” for another dress but apparently couldn’t find anything.”
Fellow Redditors were left horrified by the woman’s brazen behaviour, with many offering solutions on how she could get revenge.
Commenting on the post one wrote: “Have that dress professionally photoshopped and tinted. On their anniversary, give it to her in a frame.”
Another joked: “Every wedding should have someone armed with a Super soaker full of clothes dye.”
“Anyone wearing that deserves to have red wine “accidentally” spilled on them,” added a third.
The photo was shared on the subreddit r/weddingshaming.
The group has 472,000 members and is described as a “place to shame wedding themes, brides, grooms, wedding party, in-laws, outlaws, guests, Uncle Bob, vendors… you name it, we shame it!”
Wedding makeup do's and dont's
Paige Williams, Founder & CEO of the iconic P.Louise makeup brand shared her tips.
DO: Go timeless over trendy
We all love a trend babe, but for your wedding day? Let’s keep it classic. Think soft glam, radiant skin, neutral tones with a pop of sparkle – You want to look back in ten years and still be obsessed with your glam. Classic never goes out of style.
DON’T: Try something totally new
Your wedding day is not the time to switch it up with neon liner or completely new brows babe. You want to feel like you, just the most elevated, glowing version. Stick to what you know makes you feel confident and gorgeous.
DO: Prioritise long-wear formulas
Your wedding is a marathon, not a sprint. You’re not just walking down the aisle, you’re dancing, hugging, crying, and posing all day long. You need makeup that’s in it for the long haul. Go for waterproof, transfer-proof & cry-proof products. Your face needs to slay from ‘I do’ to the last dance and be able to handle those happy tears.
DON’T: Overload your base
Babes, less is more. You want coverage, not cake. Go for that breathable, buildable base that lets your real skin glow through. You’re aiming for flawless, not flat. Trust me, your photos will thank you.
DO: Book a trial
Non-negotiable. Whether you’re DIY-ing your glam or booking a MUA, a trial is your makeup dress rehearsal. Test it in daylight, take selfies, wear it for hours. It’s the only way to know it’ll hit just right on the day.
DON’T: Forget your neck & chest
Don’t stop the glam at your jawline, babe. Blend that foundation, bronzer and glow down to your neck and chest, we’re going for seamless, snatched and sculpted from every angle. You’re the main event, let it show.
