STEPHEN Graham has admitted he doesn’t speak to his biological father who had him at 17 years old.

The Adolescence star, 53, revealed that he grew up in Liverpool with just his mother Mary, a nursery nurse turned social worker.

Opening up about his dad in a new interview, he told The Times : “He was 17 [when he had me], he didn’t know what he was doing.

“We don’t communicate but that’s fine, I wish him no ill.”

However, when he was 10 years old, the man he calls Dad, entered his life for the first time.

His mum met “Pops”, a paediatric nurse, who went on to become a father figure in his life.

The star continued: “He saw this little mixed-race lad with no father, basically a mirror image of what happened to him.

“I was blessed that he came into my life and he is the man who raised me.

“Pops fell in love with my mum, but he fell in love with me too.”

Stephen got emotional as he opened up about the bond he shares with the man who helped raise him.

He met actress and producer Hannah Walters while they were both training as actors at Rose Bruford College.

After being friends for five years, they began dating one another.

The couple tied the knot in 2008 and went on to welcome children, son Alfie and daughter Grace.

Earlier this year, Stephen credited Hannah for saving his life and sacrificing her own career so he could be a star.

He branded her his “soulmate” and “rock” and praised her for being instrumental in both his personal life and professional career.

While accepting his award as Best Actor in a Limited Series at the Critics Choice Awards for Adolescence, he joked: “I’m the only person I don’t recognise in this room.

“As the celebrity-packed crowd burst into laughter, Stephen, who played Eddie Miller in the hit Netflix series, joked: “See! I told you it was a good joke, Hannah!”

One social media user took to X and wrote: “ just turned awards season into a love letter.”

A second noted: “Look how he turned it to a space for just them both,”

While a third praised: “Peak Graham charm effortless humour wrapped in wholesome love for Hannah.”
