Signal Iduna Park’s south stand holds just under 25,000 fans, making it European football’s biggest terrace for standing spectators.
But, according to SPORT BILD , the new safety guidelines could be an issue for them for next season.
Uefa have unveiled requirements for all 55 national associations to implement safe standing.
This means continuous wave breakers – like metal barriers on the steps – to stop fans from falling forward.
The Yellow Wall does not meet these requirements.
BVB President Hans-Joachim Watzke said: “This is nonsense and pure bureaucracy.
“Our stadium is approved for matches against Bayern or Leverkusen.
“Why shouldn’t it be suitable for games against the same or other opponents?
“Especially since nothing has ever happened in all these years.”
As it stands, Dortmund need to refit their barriers because they only have the backrests of variable seats at the moment.
Standing room needs to change too.
The Germans have not hit the requirement of a maximum of 4.7 fans per square metre – even though national building regs say five.
Dortmund’s organisational director Christian Hockenjos is set to fight his corner at a Uefa meeting next Thursday.
Hockenjos estimates the cost is tens of thousands per match to adapt stadiums for Uefa matches – which would essentially only be for Champions League meetings.
He said: “I would like us to find an agreement with Uefa that follows national law.”
Dortmund currently sit second in the Bundesliga – nine points behind leaders .
And they’re set to face third-place Stuttgart on Saturday.
