A YOUNG man who died after being stabbed in a horrific attack has now been named by police.

Suleyman Nuh, 25, died of his injuries in hospital on Monday, 11 days after he was in the neck and leg.

Suleyman was stabbed in broad daylight on a residential street in Camden, , on January 29.

The following day, a 21-year-old man was arrested, then on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of a knife in a public place, possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, and possession of a Class B drug.

The now say they have launched a murder investigation after Suleyman tragically passed away in hospital on Monday.

When officers responded to reports of a stabbing at Alvanley Gardens in West Hampstead, they found members of the public helping the injured young man.

Police and paramedics stabilised him, and he was taken to hospital “in a life-threatening condition”.

Despite these efforts, Suleyman later died of his injuries in hospital 11 days after he was attacked.

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads in the area, expressed his sympathy for Suleyman’s family and reassured locals police do not believe this was a “racially motivated attack”.

He said: “My thoughts remain with Suleyman’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time.

“I am aware of concerns in the local community, but I would like to reassure people that this is believed to have been an isolated incident and there is no information at this time to suggest this was a racially-motivated attack.

“We have increased patrols in the local area and I would ask anyone with concerns to speak to my officers.”

He confirmed a 21-year-old had earlier been charged with attempted murder in relation to the stabbing.

“I want to express my thanks to the first responders, who were on the scene within minutes, and the members of the public who did everything they could to save Suleyman’s life,” Stewart added.

“Their actions gave his family the opportunity to say goodbye.”
