The Nigeria Police have provided an update regarding the investigation into the tragic death of Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, a presenter at Arise Television.
According to DAILY POST, armed robbers invaded Somtochukwu’s residence at Unique Apartments in Katampe Extension, Mabushi, Abuja, on September 29.
This attack resulted in the deaths of the journalist and a security guard, Mr. Barnabas Danlami, who was stationed at the property.
Through dedicated efforts and comprehensive digital intelligence analysis, operatives from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command successfully apprehended twelve suspects associated with the robbery.
In an update released on Saturday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that investigations uncovered that the fatal shot that resulted in the security guard's death was fired by one of the suspects, identified as Shamsudeen Hassan.
The Force PRO reported that the suspect admitted to shooting the guard when he attempted to prevent their entry into the apartment.
Additionally, it was disclosed that the firearms utilized by the suspects were obtained from an unidentified supplier in the Niger Republic.
The suspects, as per the Force PRO, confessed to participating in other armed robbery incidents in Katampe I, Apo, Zuba, and various other areas of the nation’s capital.
The police have assured that all suspects will face prosecution in accordance with the law.
