The TV star, who played Willow Harris on the Aussie soap until 2021, has revealed that she has been diagnosed with .

According to the , this is an often painful condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (endometrium) grows outside the uterus, commonly on pelvic organs like ovaries and fallopian tubes.

In her lengthy Instagram post, Sarah opened up about her health journey.

“Soooooo grateful that after 5 years & 4 months of trying I’m finally aware of my Endometriosis diagnosis,” she told fans.

Continuing, she said: “So here’s some real. This is what living with Endo looks like. Not the cute GRWM. Not the aesthetic ‘what’s in my bag’.

“It’s meds (the aggressively un-fun kind), tears, tissues, jokes, appointments with my boyfriend by my side, surgery, texts with my besties keeping me sane, family holding me up, and me occasionally pretending I’m festive so I don’t cry in public.”

In her message to fans she added: I almost didn’t post this. Because vulnerability is terrifying and I, too, enjoy pretending I have my life together.

“But the truth is — so many women are dealing with this and being dismissed, misdiagnosed, or straight up not believed.

“Endometriosis isn’t just ‘bad period pain’. It’s a chronic, inflammatory disease that can impact your whole body, your , your relationships — everything.

The star ended her post by encouraging her followers to get checked by their doctor if they are suffering too.

Sarah’s fans rushed to share their support, with one saying: “You are the bravest funniest strongest most incredible woman.”

A second added: “Thank you for being open and sharing this with us.”

This concerned fan said: “Sending my love.. I don’t have endo but I know people close to me that have it and I see how much pain and the struggles with it.”

Sarah joined Home and Away in 2017, and remained on the soap for four years.

THE SYMPTOMS OF ENDOMETRIOSIS

THE main symptoms associated with endometriosis are:

  •  Pain in your lower tummy or back (pelvic pain) – usually worse during your period.
  •  Period pain that stops you doing your normal activities.
  •  Pain during or after sex.
  •  Feeling sick, constipation, diarrhoea, or blood in your pee during your period.
  •  Pain when peeing or pooing during your period.
  •  Difficulty getting pregnant.
  •  You may also have heavy periods. You might use lots of pads or tampons, or you may bleed through your clothes.
  •  Fatigue.

It was on the long-running show that she met her husband James Stewart, who still plays Justin Morgan on the soap.

The couple’s Home and Away characters had a romance which started when Sarah’s character Willow arrived in Summer Bay.

Love then blossomed off-screen as well and, after dating for two years, Sarah and James wed in July 2019 on the grounds of a 15th century castle.

The couple, who have been together since August 2017, exchanged vows at Luttrellstown Castle.

On the day, Sarah looked stunning in a beaded wedding dress that was designed by Melbourne-based fashion house Alin Le’ Kal.

The venue where the couple wed is also the same location where , 50, and , 51, got married in 1999.

Meanwhile, Sarah’s husband James was previously engaged to actress Jessica Marais, his former co-star on Aussie TV show Packed to the Rafters.

The former couple split in 2015, but continue to co-parent their 15-year-old daughter, Scout, together,
