One of the UK's most celebrated chefs, Skye Gyngell, has sadly passed away at the age of 62.

The highly esteemed chef died surrounded by her loved ones, her grieving family shared in a statement.

A tribute released by her family and friends stated: “We are profoundly saddened to announce the passing of Skye Gyngell on November 22nd in London, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

“Skye was a culinary innovator who inspired generations of chefs and growers worldwide to consider food and its relationship with the land.

“She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy and serves as an inspiration to us all. The family requests privacy during this difficult time.”

TV chef Jamie Oliver has led the tributes to Skye, stating: “This is terribly sad news. She was an incredible woman, a remarkable cook, and had a kind heart. She will be greatly missed. Thank you for all you did to inspire young cooks.”
