A skydiver has tragically passed away following a shocking mid-air collision in Massachusetts.

Robert Szabo, aged 62, succumbed to his injuries three days after colliding with another skilled skydiver while descending on Saturday afternoon.

Local authorities have identified the victim, who was originally from Connecticut, and confirmed the tragic incident occurred at Jumptown Skydiving in Orange.

The skydiving company stated that Robert sustained injuries from the collision but was able to land on the property of Orange Municipal Airport with a “fully functioning parachute.”

They elaborated: “On the afternoon of October 4, there was a midair collision between two experienced skydivers.”

“The injured jumper landed on airport property under a fully functioning parachute.”

Officials reported: “Szabo was transported by ambulance to the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, where he remained until his passing on Tuesday evening.”

“The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will ascertain the cause of death.”

Local law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.

The experienced skydiver Robert was recognized as a staff member at Connecticut Parachutists, a skydiving club located in Ellington.
