BRITISH grime artist Skepta has been cleared of drug-driving charges after he was arrested for driving “recklessly” with the inside of his car smelling like cannabis.

He was charged with a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit following the incident in High Wycombe on May 14, 2024.

Thames Valley Police officer PC Talan O’Neill pulled over Joseph’s Mercedes-Maybach after he saw the rapper driving “recklessly” and overtaking a vehicle on the outside lane above the 30mph speed limit.

The officer said he noticed a “smell of in the vehicle” and conducted a roadside drug test at 10:54am that morning.

Joseph was brought to a station after the drug test sample allegedly came back with a positive result for THC.

He had previously pleaded not guilty to the offence.

While at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, District Judge Arvind Sharma went over the necessary quantity of THC in the sample to prosecute.

Speaking in court, an expert said that she could not be sure that samples taken from Joseph had THC in it.

Following the comment made by the expert, the Judge terminated the proceedings and found Joseph not guilty of the offences.

He said that he could not take the matter further if the expert was not sure that the “reading is accurate”.

The rapper was also accused of travelling 37mph in a 30mph zone in his Phantom on November 20 2023.

After the prosecutor Lucy Curran said that the crown would not be offering further evidence regarding the case, the Judge dismissed the matter too.
