SIR ALEX FERGUSON has pledged £10,000 to help a former club in need – but it’s not Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been careful with their cash since stepped into the boardroom.

And part of the billionaire’s cost-cutting measures involved for being the club’s global ambassador.
But the legendary Scot – who led United to 13 titles – still has enough change lying around to help a side close to his heart.
Ferguson’s private investment will be used to help Glasgow club Benburb on their fairytale Scottish Cup run.
The 83-year-old spent a year in their youth academy before going on to play for the likes of , Falkirk and Scotland.
Benburb – who play in the West of Scotland Football League – booked their spot in the Scottish Cup second round with a win over Cowdenbeath.
Victory over Wick Academy on October 25 would put them in the third-round draw with giants Celtic and Rangers.
Benburb players and staff were facing a gruelling 12-hour round trip to play the most northerly professional side in Britain.
But Fergie’s donation will allow them to stay locally and get a good night’s rest before the 3pm kick-off.
Ex-United boss Ferguson has never hidden his love for the club where he cut his teeth.
In 2012 – while still in charge at Old Trafford – he sent Benburb £200 asking for home and away shirts, baseball caps, a car sticker, and “a mug for my tea to let everyone know my real club”.
Ferguson said: “The Bens were just down the road from where I was brought up.
“My dad and I would lean on those barriers at Tinto Park and watch them. I was part of their youth system for a year. We trained and played at Tinto Park.”
Former Benburb player and head coach Frank Lovering added: “For all of his success, [Sir Alex] is a Govan man who is proud of his roots.
“He has never forgotten where he came from. We are delighted to accept Sir Alex’s offer and hope we can make him proud.”
