Fulham head coach Marco Silva has explained the reason behind his decision to omit Samuel Chukwueze from his matchday squad against Leeds United.

Chukwueze switched to the Craven Cottage on loan from AC Milan on deadline day.

The 26-year-old was expected to make his debut for the Whites in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Leeds United.

The winger was however snubbed by Silva for the game.

Silva said it is important for the Nigeria international to familiarise himself with his new teammates.

“It was impossible for Chukwueze to start, probably he doesn’t know all his teammates’ names. He had two days of training after arriving on the last day, and off to play for his country,” Silva was quoted by the club’s official website.
