A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticized what he refers to as a brutal media campaign against the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.

In a post on his verified X account on Thursday, Fani-Kayode described the attacks, allegedly instigated by the opposition, as shameless and repugnant.

He pointed out that the minister has shown remarkable loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and has been dedicated to the fight against terrorism since taking office.

According to him, the collaboration between Matawalle and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has led to significant progress in the counter-terrorism efforts.

“The partnership between him and NSA Nuhu Ribadu has resulted in the elimination of more terrorists in the last two years than in the previous eight years combined,” he stated.

However, the former Aviation Minister criticized what he sees as the hesitation of government officials to publicize security achievements, expressing, “My only concern is that, for some reason, they do not share this information publicly to inform the world, which I believe they should.”

He encouraged Matawalle to stay focused and disregard attempts to undermine him, asserting that the minister’s bravery and determination in facing threats to the state have earned him respect.

“I urge my friend and brother, Matawalle, to maintain his focus, continue the excellent work, and ignore the negative distractions despite all efforts to discredit and undermine him,” he wrote.
