Cauca Governor Octavio Guzmán said: “An explosive device was detonated on the Pan-American Highway, in the El Túnel sector of Cajibío, in an indiscriminate attack against the civilian population that, according to preliminary reports, has left 7 civilians dead and more than 17 seriously injured.”

The number of wounded was later updated to 20.

Terrorists launched a cylinder loaded with explosives at a bus.

The huge shock from the explosion also destroyed several other vehicles.

Its force was so immense that an enormous crater was left in the road.

Guzmán called the deadly attack “a tragedy that tears us apart as a department and deeply saddens our families”.

He added: “Words cannot express the pain we feel today.”
