Napoli manager, Antonio Conte has explained why AC Milan defeated his team 2-1 in Sunday’s Serie A tie at San Siro.

Two first-half goals from Alexis Saelemaekers and Christian Pulisic gave Milan the victory against the visitors.

Kevin De Bruyne did score a penalty for Napoli in the second half of the encounter.

Speaking after the game, Conte admitted that the early goal his conceded during the encounter gave Milan the advantage.

According to him, Napoli players made life difficult for themselves at 2-0 down against the hosts.

“It’s a pity we conceded so early; the team as a whole could have done better on both those situations,” Conte told DAZN Italia.

“Starting at San Siro and being a goal down after four minutes is not easy. We played our game overall. I liked the team in the first half, too. We pressed Milan very high, created scoring opportunities, but there is work to do, because we have been conceding too many goals lately. If you look at the two against Pisa and the two today, they are adding up.

“We made life difficult for ourselves at 2-0 down. We still pushed hard and created scoring opportunities, but you’ve got to finish them too.”
