Former Brazil forward Edmundo Alves de Souza Neto has expressed his admiration for Victor Osimhen.
Edmundo, who was nicknamed “The Animal” during his playing days, labelled Osimhen an absolute champion.
The 52-year-old and Osimhen share similarities in their playing style.
Edmundo was recently asked if his nickname ‘The Animal’ would suit Napoli’s talisman Osimhen.
“Well, I don’t know him that well,” Edmundo told Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We have different characteristics, I played further back, and he is a centre-forward who knows how to go deep behind the defenders.
“I consider him an absolute champion, but I don’t know if he can be considered the best in his role at an international level.”
Osimhen was top scorer in the Italian top-flight last season with 26 goals from 32 games.
The 24-year-old has registered five goals in nine appearances across all competitions the Serie A champions this season.
