Security forces have repelled a bandit attack on Yankaba village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X on Sunday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.

According to the report, the attack happened on March 7 at about 6:00 p.m. when suspected armed bandits stormed the community, shooting into the air and causing panic among residents.

Security sources said troops of Operation Fansan Yanma, working with police tactical teams, were quickly deployed to the area and engaged the attackers in a gun battle.

“The bandits were forced to retreat after they encountered stronger firepower from the security forces.

“Following the confrontation, the attackers reportedly abandoned their mission and fled the community.

“Security personnel have since increased patrols and surveillance in the area to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents,” Makama wrote.

Makama added that monitoring and other security operations are still ongoing in the community.
