Security: Ebonyi govt seeks deployment of NSCDC personnel at Chuba Okadigbo airport

Ebonyi State government has requested for the deployment of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, personnel to help curb security challenges at the Chuba Okadigbo international Airport Onueke, Ezza South Local government Area of the state.

The Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu expressed government’s readiness to partner NSCDC, especially to fight against insecurity in the state and Nigeria at large.

She made this known on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the state Commandant of the Nigeria security and civil defense corps, NSCDC, Ebonyi State command headquarters Abakaliki.

Obichukwu who was accompanied by the management team of the Chuba Okadigbo international Airport, Onueke Ezza South LGA of Ebonyi State, was received by the Commandant, Francis Chika Nnadi.

She emphasized that the visit is targeted at boosting the mutual and cordial relationship between the Ministry of Aviation and transport technology and the corps, especially in addressing the emerging security needs in the state’s aviation sector.

The Commissioner, however, requested for the deployment of NSCDC personnel to the Chuba Okadigbo’s international airport to help curb specific security challenges currently affecting operations at the facility.

Responding, the NSCDC Commandant, Francis Nnadi, however, assured the commissioner of the corps’ readiness and willingness to deploy well trained personnel to support safety and security at the Chuba Okadigbo’s international airport, Onueke Ezza South LGA.

Nnadi further applauded the aviation ministry for its collaborative approach and vowed to ensure adequate protection of lives and infrastructure within the transport sector and Ebonyi state in general.
