Why was Scott Mills sacked from BBC Radio 2?
Fellow DJ Gary Davies had to step in to host Wednesday’s show after the sensational sacking – telling listeners he was “in for Scott Mills.”
Mills’ removal from the show comes just weeks after he was unveiled as one of the hosts for Race Across The World’s spin-off podcast, The Detour.
Question marks remain over his axing, including who will step in to fill the gap on the coveted Breakfast Show.
Lorna Clarke, Director of Music at the BBC, confirmed the sacking in a statement to staff but did not reveal the reason behind Mills departure.
A statement released by the broadcaster simply stated the host had been given the boot over “personal conduct.”

Meanwhile, Mills’ Beeb colleagues were informed of the firing by Director of Music, Lorna Clarke.
A statement circulated to staff, penned by Lorna, read: “I wanted to personally let you know that Scott Mills has left the Breakfast show, and the BBC.
“I know that this will be sudden and unexpected and therefore must come as a shock.
“Not least as so many of us have worked with Scott over a great many years, across a broad range of our programmes on R1, 5Live, R2 and TV.
“I felt it was important to share this news with you at the earliest opportunity.”
Who will replace Scott Mills on the Breakfast Show?
Scott began presenting his show on in 2005 before moving to 2 in 2022.
A temporary stand in to replace Mills has already stepped up with Gary Davies, 68, taking on Scott’s workload this week.
The radio star, who has his own show Sounds of the 80s with Gary Davies, often covers for Radio 2 DJs when they’re ill or off work.

Aside from his radio show, Mills has undertaken a long list of projects for the BBC that will now need covered.
