A SCHOOLBOY and a man have been killed in a horror crash after a car left the road.
A man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Cops received reports that a white Skoda Octavia car came off John Reid Road in South Shields, Northumbria.
They raced to respond to the incident finding a man in his 40s and a secondary school aged boy who were both sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his 30s sustained serious injuries in the crash and was raced to hospital to be treated by medics.
He remains in hospital in a stable condition and has now been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Officers from Northumbria Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are now appealing for any information relating to the crash.
The road remains closed while cops carry out their probe into the horror smash.
In a statement shared online the force said: “Were you travelling on John Reid Road in South Shields at about 8.55pm yesterday?
“You could be a witness to a serious road collision where a man in his 40s and a secondary-school aged boy have sadly died.
“We are investigating after it was reported that a white Skoda Octavia car came off the road.
“A man in his 30s sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a stable condition.
“He has also been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.”
