Sanwo-Olu Pays Tribute to Olusegun, Grandson of Obafemi Awolowo, After His Passing

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Mr. Olusegun Awolowo, the grandson of the late Premier of the Western Region and nationalist, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

Sanwo-Olu described the former Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council as a dedicated patriot who distinguished himself through his vision, integrity, and commitment to national service.

In a condolence message released on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, the Governor conveyed his sympathies to the Awolowo family, emphasizing that Olusegun Awolowo’s death was both unexpected and a substantial loss to the nation.

“It is with deep sadness that I extend my condolences to the family, friends, and associates of the late Olusegun Awolowo. He was an extraordinary Nigerian who served the nation with passion and purpose, remaining a worthy representative of the Awolowo legacy,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

“On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Lagos State, I extend our heartfelt sympathies to the Awolowo family and all who mourn him. We pray that God grants them the strength to endure this painful loss and that Olusegun Awolowo finds eternal rest.”
