Sanwo-Olu Names Ogunmuyiwa as New Director General of Education Quality Assurance Office

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Dr. Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa as the Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), effective immediately.

A statement released on the state government’s official X handle on Friday confirmed that Ogunmuyiwa received his appointment letter on Thursday at the Office of the Head of Service in Alausa, Ikeja.

The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, formally presented the letter.

Recognized as an experienced education administrator, Ogunmuyiwa brings over 25 years of expertise in school evaluation, planning, quality assurance processes, and educational leadership within the Lagos State public service.

He holds a PhD in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Abuja, two master’s degrees—one in Educational Administration and the other in Guidance and Counseling—as well as a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Lagos.

Throughout his career, he has held several strategic positions within OEQA, including Head of Planning, Head of Education Quality Assurance Services, and Director of Private Education and Special Programs.

In these roles, he has overseen accreditation processes, quality monitoring across schools, and various initiatives aimed at system improvement.

A multi-award-winning public servant, Ogunmuyiwa was consistently recognized as OEQA’s Best Staff from 2012 to 2022.

In addition to his administrative achievements, he is an active member of several professional organizations and has significantly contributed to teacher development, school improvement frameworks, and community-focused educational programs.

He also mentors civil servants and young professionals, facilitating numerous training sessions for both government agencies and private organizations.

In congratulating him on his appointment, Agoro expressed confidence in Ogunmuyiwa’s ability to raise education standards in the state.

“I am confident that Ogunmuyiwa’s appointment will further enhance the quality of education in Lagos State, and I urge him to continue working diligently to ensure that our education system remains a model for others to emulate,” stated the Head of Service.
