Ryder Cup 2025 format
The Ryder Cup features three different match formats – foursomes, fourball and singles matches.
The foresome matches are also known as alternate shot.
Two players from either team will compete against each over, with each group playing one ball between them and hitting alternate shots and the lowest score wins the hole.
Fourball matches see all four players involved play with their own balls individually and the best score on each hole will win that hole for their team.
Singles matches are similar in the fact each player plays with their own ball but singles matches only involve one player from each team playing against each other with the best score winning the hole.
On both Friday and Saturday of the Ryder Cup, there will be four foursome matches and four fourball matches with 16 points available.
And on the Sunday, there will be 12 singles matches featuring every play on both teams.
Each match is worth one point but if matches are tied, both teams will recieve half a point.
