Nigel held the Mexican sanctioning body’s prestigious green and gold super-middleweight strap for nearly four years from 1992 to 1996.
And getting his hands on a WBC belt of his own has been Conor’s “dream” since he turned professional ten years ago.
He said: “I think for me winning the WBC welterweight title is heavy on my heart and heavy on my mind.
“It’s the belt my dad won, it’s the belt I would love to win. It’s my dream.”
