TIME is running out for those hoping to preserve the Salford name – with paperwork due TOMORROW.
As reported by SunSport, four groups have emerged, seeking to keep the Red Devils within rugby league.

On Wednesday, the club was officially dissolved after 152 years, with many supporters relieved by the departure of the unpopular owners, Isiosaia ‘Sire’ Kailahi.
Although the Rugby Football League has indicated that the deadline for decisions is Wednesday, December 17, the first step must be completed much sooner.
By 5 PM tomorrow, 'headline documents' detailing five key areas – ownership, governance and management, financial and sustainability plans, player recruitment, stadium facilities, community engagement and local support, along with proof of funds – must be submitted.
More comprehensive final documentation is required by 5 PM on Thursday, with a review scheduled for Monday, December 15, and a final decision from the RFL board on December 17.
According to documents obtained by SunSport, the RFL is “pleased with the level of interest in and support for the continuity of professional club rugby league in Salford.”
Former Salford chief executive Chris Irwin is involved with one group, while ex-player Mason Caton-Brown is associated with another, alongside Australian local Malcolm Crompton and businessman Paul Hancock.

Kiwi Tracy Atiga, who established the company Salford City Reds 2025 Limited prior to the dissolution of the Red Devils' holding company, Salford City Reds (2013), due to unpaid taxes, is also considering a bid.
A fourth group is believed to have contacted the RFL shortly after the relegated Super League club was disbanded.
However, the Caton-Brown group has already made a misstep by claiming it had “an agreement in principle for the continued use of the CorpAcq Stadium.”

Nevertheless, SunSport has learned that none of the interested parties have reached agreements with Salford City Council, which owns the venue – and it is only referred to as the CorpAcq Stadium when Sale Sharks RU play there.
Other groups are also facing challenges – primarily Irwin’s connections to Kailahi and Brown’s previous employment ties.
It is anticipated that Salford’s ownership situation will be discussed at the Rugby Football League’s council meeting – where all clubs convene – on Tuesday.
