RORY MCILROY sent social media into overdrive after boasting that he is getting his first taste of being able to use the Masters champions’ locker room.

And he made a stunning start to his title defence after shooting 67 to with Sam Burns.

McIlroy then revealed he planned to celebrate the best possible opening round in the champions’ locker room at Augusta National.

The five-time major winner told ESPN host Scott van Pelt: “It’s amazing. Sometimes I still have to catch myself and be like, I do get to come back here every year.

“It’s such a thrill to be up there with all the other champions and .

“It really was the thrill of a lifetime for me to be able to host that dinner. I’ll probably go up there right now and have a little drink, put my Green Jacket on and then call it a day.”
