Fans ask 'how's he ended up working for Sky Sports-' as celebrity works as presenter on deadline day

FANS were left baffled at who was presenting Sky Sports’ deadline day coverage.

The broadcaster’s big day culminated in the transfer window slamming shut at 7pm .

Fans could barely believe the TV celebrity’s shock appearance

But the man who announced the closure was none other than Roman Kemp.

And viewers could not get their heads around why he was on the screen.

One said: “Roman Kemp is so poor, seriously why is he on Sky Sports ?”

Another wrote: “I was looking forward to watching Deadline Day on Sky!!! WTF does Roman Kemp know about football? As much as the rest of us or less!”

A third added: “Games gone even further than it was a few seconds ago.”

A fourth typed: “Just saw Roman Kemp on there and thought I was watching The One Show.”

A fifth moaned: “WHY is Roman Kemp on the Transfer Deadline Day show… he has ZERO football credentials?”

A sixth commented: “Still confused as to why Roman Kemp is on SSN.”

A seventh replied: “Imagine those young people putting themselves in thousands of pounds of debt and dedicating years of their life to train in sports journalism – just to turn on Sky Sports News and see Roman Kemp get the gig.”

And a final user posted: “There should’ve been a 24 hr loan deal for Jim White to Sky Sports News instead of rambling Roman Kemp.”

Marc Guehi's £35m move to Liverpool is OFF

TV celebrity Roman is the son of musician and EastEnders actor Martin.

LA-born Kemp Jr, 32, presented Capital’s breakfast show from 2017 to 2024 and came third in I’m A Celebrity in 2019.

But SunSport exclusively revealed he was snapped up by Sky Sports to present a new Premier League preview show on Friday evenings.

The Arsenal fan, who has played in Soccer Aid, had never previously worked in football broadcasting before landing the major gig.

He was brought in amid a wave of redundancies to long-term stalwarts at Sky to try and appeal to a younger audience.

Snooker star Mark Allen was far from impressed by Sky’s deadline day coverage and panellists.

He tweeted: “Just turned on @SkySportsNews to follow deadline day…… why oh why are they bringing in fans rather than experts for discussions?

“Pretty sure paying customers won’t be happy with this. Sort it out.”
