The Rivers State Police Command has announced a temporary restriction on human and vehicular movement across the state on August 30, ahead of the local government elections scheduled for the same day.

According to the command, the restriction will be in effect from 12 am to 6 pm on Saturday.

In a statement, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, urged residents to “cooperate fully with security agencies to ensure a smooth, peaceful, and hitch-free electoral process, as the Police are committed to maintaining law and order before, during, and after the elections.”

The statement further assured that “comprehensive security measures have been put in place, including the adequate deployment of security operatives to all the land and waterways to guarantee a secure environment for voters.”

The command also urged residents to comply with the restriction order and report all suspicious activities to the security agencies.
