Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has asked Arsenal fans, particularly those who opposed the signing of Noni Madueke, to apologise to the former Chelsea star.
The England international has made a bright start at the Emirates Stadium, to the surprise of many of his critics.
There was much debate prior to the player’s move to the Emirates Stadium, as the Gunners paid as much as £52 million for his signature.
An injury to Saka presented Madueke with opportunities to thrive for both club and country.
Speaking on his YouTube channel ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Athletic Club, Ferdinand said, “I just want to give the haters, the naysayers who were hammering Madueke (a message).
“He’s delivered in a game and Arsenal fans are now salivating over him and saying they love him, he’s our saviour.
“Those fans need to come out now, those naysayers and negative guys need to come out now and say sorry.”
Madueke started for the Gunners on Tuesday in their 2-0 win over Spanish side Athletic Club in the opening match of the 2025–26 Champions League season.
