RICHARD Osman has disclosed the true reason for his decision to decline joining Celebrity Traitors.
The former co-host, 53, was involved with BBC’s star-studded spinoff prior to the lineup announcement.



During a discussion, Richard explained why he ultimately chose not to enter the castle.
He stated: “I love Celebrity Traitors. I mentioned that I would only participate if I could be a Traitor.
“The reason being, I couldn't stand the thought of being a Faithful, lying in my room at night.
“You know there are three people up in that tower, having a great time in cloaks and filming something.
“I’d just be lying there thinking, ‘I could be eliminated at any moment’. I wouldn’t have that control.
“Of course, they can’t guarantee ‘yes, you can be a Traitor.’”
Ironically, the GMB star was among the 19 stars who entered the iconic Ardross Castle.
, , and were also among the participants.
Celebrity Traitors is scheduled to officially premiere on Wednesday, October 8, at 9 PM.
It will be aired two nights a week, on Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 9 PM.
Previously discussing the show, he said: “It’s an absolute honor.
“I could hardly breathe when I saw everyone in the Highlands.
“I’m such a fan of each one of them. The entire team was just in awe; it was hard not to shout ‘You’re here!’.
“When I spoke with Stephen Fry, I nearly got emotional, telling him, ‘This was my dream.’
“We’re incredibly fortunate to have the cast that we have.
“Each one of them is remarkable. They are exceptionally intelligent and kind.
How Does The Traitors Work and Who Hosts It?
The show first launched in the UK in 2022, after the BBC acquired the Dutch format.
Who is the host?
Celebrity Traitors is hosted by , who has now presided over all three series to date.
How does it work?
This reality game show features 22 contestants, with some chosen to be the Traitors.
The Traitors face a group of contestants in “the ultimate game of truth and deception.”
The contestants compete for the chance to win a substantial cash prize.
While navigating various challenges, the team must also identify who the Traitors are within the group (typically three contestants).
Each night, the Traitors convene to “eliminate” one of the Faithful, removing them from the competition.
Meanwhile, the Traitors can be “banished” if successfully identified as a Traitor by a Faithful.
The winners of the show are either the Traitor who remains undetected or the Faithful if they successfully eliminate all the Traitors.
The prize for the winner could amount to £120K.
