Reusser retains women's world time trial title on 35th birthday

Marlen Reusser celebrated her 35th birthday by successfully defending the women’s elite individual time trial world title in Montreal.

The Swiss rider completed the course in 50 minutes 24.44 seconds, finishing 40.11 seconds ahead of Britain’s Zoe Backstedt, with Germany’s Franziska Koch third at 45.54 seconds.

Reusser delivers another world-title ride

Reusser’s victory underlined her consistency against the clock at the highest level. The defending champion produced the fastest ride on a course that demanded sustained power and precise pacing, holding off a strong challenge from Backstedt and Koch.
