Speaking on behalf of the awardees, the Director of the Academic Publishing Centre, Prof. Abdulsalami S. Kovo, applauded the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for their continuous support. He cited the high demand for FUT Minna graduates across the country, attributing it to the institution’s strong academic and research culture.

The Director of WASCAL, FUT Minna, Prof. Appolonia A. Okhimamhe, also noted that the recognition of researchers serves as a motivating factor, encouraging both staff and students to deepen their engagement with impactful research.

Earlier, in his opening remarks, the Director of Research, Innovations and Development—and one of the awardees—Prof. Chiemela E. Chinma, stated that the annual event is designed to honour researchers who have published in top-tier Q1 journals and those who have secured international grants, in recognition of academic excellence.

In his vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Uno Essang Uno, commended the Vice-Chancellor and his management team for fostering an environment that drives academic success and innovation.

Among those honoured for publishing in Q1 journals were Dr. Ekundayo Abayomi Adesina from the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics, Prof. Luqman Oyewobi from Quantity Surveying, Dr. Sharifat O. Ibrahim and Dr. I. O. Olarinoye from Physics, Dr. Olufemi Adebayo Oyewole and Prof. O. P. Abioye from Microbiology, Dr. Abdulhakeem Yusuf from Industrial Mathematics, Prof. Abdulsalami S. Kovo and Prof. Ambali Saka Abdulkareem from Chemical Engineering, Prof. Jimoh Oladejo Tijani and Dr. Saheed Mustapha from Chemistry, Prof. Francis Ofurum Arimoro from Animal Biology, Prof. Chiemela Enyinnaya Chinma from Food Science and Technology, Dr. Augustine Innalegwu Daniel from Biochemistry, Prof. Muhammad Umar Garba from Petroleum and Gas Engineering, and Dr. Festus Abiodun Oguntolu from Mathematics. Others included the trio of Prof. A. A. Okhimamhe, Prof. Martins Yusuf Otache, and Prof. Jaiye Dukiya, all from WASCAL.

In addition, Prof. Abdulsalami S. Kovo was specially recognised for securing an international research grant, further reinforcing the university’s growing influence on the global academic stage.
