A renowned Islamic scholar based in Zaria, Sheikh Khalifa Usman Idris, popularly known as Rigi-Rigi, has passed away after a prolonged illness.
His death was confirmed by his son-in-law, Abubakar Ɗanyaro, who said the cleric died on Sunday night at a private hospital in Kaduna.
Ɗanyaro disclosed that Sheikh Rigi-Rigi was initially admitted at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, before he was transferred to a private hospital in Barnawa, where he eventually passed away.
According to him, the funeral prayer will be held on Monday after the Asr prayer at the scholar’s residence in the Kusfa area of Zaria.
Sheikh Khalifa Usman Idris, also known as Sheikh Usman Kusfah Rigi-Rigi, was widely respected for his deep Islamic knowledge and lifelong dedication to teaching and preaching.
He was particularly known for his humorous and engaging preaching style, which made his sermons popular both within northern Nigeria and on social media, where videos of his teachings circulated widely.
