DUTCH referee Rob Dieperink has died weeks after he was axed from the World Cup following his arrest over a sexual assault of a teenager.

The 38-year-old’s death was confirmed by the Dutch Football Association who said it was “shocked” by the news.

Dieperink’s cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

The late official was slated to referee at this summer’s World Cup, but was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage boy.

His case was ultimately dismissed, but Fifa confirmed that Dieperink had been removed from its list of officials.
