A HUGE reality TV show has been thrown into chaos after 100 DAYS worth of irreplaceable footage was accidentally deleted.
The popular competition series sees a group of reality stars live together while taking on extreme physical challenges and brutal elimination matches.
An entire season of Sweden was suddenly deleted by an AI agent, according to Aftonbladet .
It seems it’s been a real challenge for production company Mastiff and their client network TV4 behind the scenes.
A source told the outlet that Mastiff suffered a “technical faliure” and let an AI agent into their servers.
The AI agent is said to have wiped the pre-cut season of The Challenge from the server – leaving them with little chance of recreating the season.
“Several hundred days of work are now gone and several hundred people now need to go in and work on this in order to deliver the program for the planned premiere,” said the insider.
TV4 has confirmed that a “technical failure” occurred and the season, which was supposed to premiere on November 22, is having to be recut.
Ludvig Ternstedt, spokesperson for Sweden said: “What we have received from the production is that there has been a technical failure that has caused material that has been cut to disappear and that we therefore have to re-cut it again.
“And that we therefore need to postpone the premiere to 2027.
“It is of course super sad that it will not premiere as we had planned, but there is not much that can be done about it at the moment.”
They also confirmed there is no new release date as of yet.
TV4’s program director Mia Lindqvist has claimed it was not an “AI agent that acted independently.”
She said: “On the other hand, most production companies use AI in their work processes these days, but that’s a completely different matter.
“In this case, the big problem is that their backup didn’t work and that means they have to recut everything from scratch.
“The raw material is there, so it’s no problem, but of course it means we lose time.”
In their latest update, TV4 has stated their investigation shows the footage disappeared due to a “human factor” at Mastiff and “not AI”
Participants on the show have all been informed about the unfortunate error.
