DANI CARVAJAL will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season after an incredible 23-year association with the club.

The veteran right-back, 34, will depart when his contract expires in June, bringing an end to one of the most successful careers in Los Blancos history.

Madrid president paid an emotional tribute to the club captain after the announcement.

Perez said: “Dani Carvajal is a legend and a symbol of and its academy.

“Carvajal has always exemplified the values of Real Madrid. This is and will always be his home.”

Carvajal joined Madrid’s academy back in 2002 before returning to the club’s first team in 2013 following a one-year spell with .

He went on to become one of the most decorated players in football history.

During his time at the Bernabeu, Carvajal won an astonishing 27 trophies, including six titles and four LaLiga crowns.

He is also one of only five players ever to win six Champions Leagues and the only player to start in all six finals he lifted.

The Spanish defender made 450 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 14 goals, and became known for his fierce defending, relentless energy and leadership.

Carvajal also enjoyed success on the international stage with Spain national football team.

Since making his debut in 2014, he earned 51 caps and helped Spain win the in 2023 and .

His standout year came in 2024 when he was named in the FIFPro World XI and won The Best FIFA Men’s World XI award.

He also scored in Madrid’s Champions League final victory over and was named man of the match.

But injuries have taken their toll in recent seasons.

Carvajal suffered a cruciate ligament injury in October 2024 before another serious knee setback a year later.

The arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool last summer also pushed him further down the pecking order.

He has played just 892 LaLiga minutes this season as Madrid prepare for a new era under boss Alvaro Arbeloa.

Real Madrid will honour Carvajal before their final LaLiga match of the season against Athletic Club at the Santiago Bernabeu on May 23.

The emotional farewell is expected to draw huge tributes from supporters, who regard Carvajal as one of the greatest right-backs in club history.

Over more than a decade in the first team, he became a key figure during one of the most dominant periods Madrid has ever enjoyed.

As stars including , , and moved on, Carvajal emerged as one of the dressing room’s leaders and eventually captain.

Despite his recent injury struggles, fans continued to show their love every time he stepped onto the pitch.

His departure now signals the end of an era at the Bernabeu but could be the start of something special with
