BAYERN MUNICH will take a vital lead to Germany after edging Real Madrid 2-1 at the Bernabeu.

Vincent Kompany’s side put in an impressive display as Luis Diaz netted the opener from close range before half time.

Harry Kane doubled their lead just after the interval with a fantastic first-time strike from outside the area.

The German giants could have been even further ahead had Dayot Upamecano not missed a sitter from just yards out in the opening minutes.

Madrid could and should have pulled one back after Vinicius Jr somehow failed to convert after rounding Manuel Neuer.

But Los Blancos did eventually get their goal as Mbappe’s strike ended up crossing the line thanks to goal technology.

Bayern had a number of chances to add to their lead late on after Jamal Musiala and Diaz fluffed their lines.
