Reading Festival Implements Sudden Rule Change Amid Thunderstorm Alert from Met Office

READING Festival has made a last-minute rule change as it prepares to kick off tomorrow.

The huge event will welcome around 100,000 music lovers over the next few days – and there’s been a change they’ll need to know about.

has backtracked on its plans to ban camping stoves from the event, following this summer.

After weeks of and hosepipe bans across the nation, festival organisers put camping stoves on the prohibited items list .

However, after the arrival of rainier weather across England and , it has been confirmed that specific stoves will now be permitted.

In a statement, Reading Festival said: “Reading festival have decided that due to the change in weather conditions, camping stoves compliant with the ‘What You Can and Can’t Bring’ section of the website will be permitted into the campsites.”

The announcement continued: “Only permitted types of camping stoves will be allowed, so please take time to check the requirements in advance or your stove may not be allowed in.”

The guidelines for stoves that will be allowed into the campsites at the festival outline that only certain types and certain fuels are acceptable.

Meth stoves, Trangia stoves, solid fuel stoves, hexamine stoves, gel stoves, firelighter stoves and flat-based gas camping stoves can be brought.

However, campfires and are strictly forbidden, along with fire pits and any other charcoal barbecue.

Festival bosses said: “Reminder: Disposable BBQs are not permitted on site. Please do not bring them.

“Campfires are not permitted and anyone found lighting one will be evicted.”

Festivalgoers have also been warned against dropping cigarettes on the floor and told to be mindful of cigarette butt disposal.

Blowtorches, candles, incense, paper lanterns and fireworks are also banned.
