Ralf Rangnick responds after Cristiano Ronaldo slammed ex-Man Utd manager as ‘not even a coach’

RALF RANGNICK has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo’s claims that he is “not even a coach”.

The Portuguese star made the damming statement in his controversial TalkTV interview with Piers Morgan.

Ralf Rangnick has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo’s criticism of him.

The 63-year-old was appointed as Manchester United manager last season after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But Ronaldo told Morgan that he was not impressed with the move by the club.

He said: “If you’re not even a coach, how are you going to be the boss of Manchester United

“I’d never even heard of him.”

Rangnick joined the club with a good reputation and is thought of as one of the founders of ‘gegenpressing’, the style of football implemented by Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp.

Rangnick was supposed to stay at United for longer but he left the club at the end of the season and is now the head coach of the Austrian national team.

The German seemed fairly unmoved by Ronaldo’s comments about him as he insisted it is not his job to judge the Portuguese forward.

He said as per Kronen Zeitung: “I’m the team boss of Austria’s national team, it’s not my job to judge that.

“[It is] the task of Manchester United and the sports journalists”.

During the duo’s time together at the club Ronaldo scored 12 goals in 22 games.

Rangnick was not the only person to be on the end of verbal fire from Ronaldo as he also hit out at former teammate Wayne Rooney and he blasted people within the club’s hierarchy who “betrayed” him.
