RAF veteran Ron Gibbs, 90, is facing eviction over his mobility scooter—just before Remembrance Day.
Ron, shown third from the right in the second row, moved into his son Jason’s one-bedroom housing association flat last year as his health declined.
The former electrician kept his motorized scooter, which he uses to walk his two Yorkshire terriers, outside the back door.
Last week, a manager instructed him to relocate it within a week or risk eviction, citing it as a fire hazard.
When Jason, 49, appealed to the landlord, he was informed that nothing could be done.
Jason stated, “I called them and spoke to the same manager, and I have never been treated like that before. He spoke to me disrespectfully.
“He insisted that the scooter had to be moved, or we would face eviction, and they could even confiscate it.
“I find that appalling. My father is an elderly veteran, and they want to make him homeless just before Remembrance Day.
“It demonstrates a lack of concern for former service members.”
The social housing company, Incommunities, stated: “The scooter presents a fire risk due to its storage position, which is too close to the building.
“Lithium batteries within scooters can ignite, endangering the entire block.”
They mentioned they are assisting in finding “more suitable accommodation.”
