Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has criticized Chelsea forward Kai Havertz during Germany’s 2022 World Cup group game with Japan on Wednesday.
Havertz started the match and looked to have put his team up by 2-0 just before the break after tapping in Serge Gnabry’s cross.
After a VAR check, the goal was ruled as Havertz was clearly offside.
Germany took the first half through Ilkay Gundogan’s penalty, but two late goals from Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano stunned the four-time World Cup winners.
Analysing the disallowed goal for ITV, Wright exclaimed: “Havertz, just stay where you are!
“The ball is coming across there. You don’t need to go. If he just waits, just stay there you’ll be able to slide in and get it.
“The thing is you could see how much close he was to the goal. I can’t believe this is happening at this level!”
