PUTIN has agreed to a ceasefire to stop bombing Ukraine’s cities for a week, following a phone call with Donald Trump.

Trump announced the temporary peace deal as millions of Ukrainian civilians continue to freeze without electricity due to the onslaught of Russian attacks targeting the power grid.

“I personally asked President Putin not to fire into Kyiv and various towns for a week, and he agreed to do that,” Trump said at a Cabinet meeting, citing “extraordinary cold” in the region.

“It was very nice. A lot of people said, ‘Don’t waste the call, you’re not going to get that.’ And he did it,” Trump added.

The call for a pause in attacks follows , leaving many around the country without heat in the dead of winter.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on Thursday on reports that the two countries had agreed to a ceasefire in attacks on each other’s energy infrastructure.

Trump said that he was pleased that Putin has agreed to the pause.

Kyiv is forecast to enter a brutally cold stretch starting Friday that is expected to last into next week.
