PSV punishment for Arsenal crowd trouble revealed as Dutch fans BANNED from next away game and club ordered to pay £35k

PSV fans have been BANNED from their next European away game after crowd trouble at Arsenal next week.

The Dutch side have also been slapped with a £35,000 fine for their supporters’ behaviour.

Things reached boiling point at the end of Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side last week.

Flares were thrown at home supporters from the away section.

While seats were also ripped out by angry yobs.

Riot police were forced to intervene moments after the final whistle.

Uefa described their punishment as being for “throwing of objects, crowd disturbances and acts of damages”.

PSV will have 30 days to reach out to Arsenal in order to pay for damages caused by their fans.

The Gunners won the match 1-0, via Granit Xhaka’s 70th minute strike.

Their victory put them in a commanding position in the group, with a win tonight enough to see them win it with a game to spare.

Arsenal take on PSV in the Netherlands this evening with Van Nistelrooy and Co aiming to cling on to hopes of catching the North Londoners in top spot.

Ahead of tonight’s match, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said: “This competition is getting harder and harder and how it looks today and what the possibilities are, it looks like the next round will be extremely competitive.

“That’s why finishing first in the group and avoiding another two games is such an important thing for us.”
