The police have clarified the reasons behind the arrests of both Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, and his brother during the Free Nnamdi Kanu protest in Abuja on Monday.
According to the authorities, Kanu’s brother and Ejimakor attempted to enter restricted areas during the protest.
This clarification was provided on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, while addressing inquiries on Channels Television’s Politics Today program.
Hundeyin further revealed that all individuals arrested during the protest would face charges in court following an investigation.
He stated: “We arrested Nnamdi Kanu’s brother and his lawyer because they insisted on accessing the restricted areas. Additionally, six others were also taken into custody near TRANSCORP for the same reason. In total, we arrested eight individuals. They are currently at the state CID, and once we complete our investigation, as we mentioned in our statement, anyone who violated that court order will be arrested, thoroughly investigated, and prosecuted. Once we conclude that, which we expect to do tonight, they will be prosecuted immediately. They will face the court within 24 hours.”
