PETERBOROUGH SPORTS have confirmed the appointment of Phil Brown as their new first-team manager in what is being described as a landmark moment for the club.
The former Premier League boss takes charge at Lincoln Road following the departure of joint-managers Michael Gash and Luke Steele, who left their roles earlier this week by mutual agreement.



Brown, 66, brings with him a wealth of experience at all levels of the game, having managed clubs including , , , , Swindon Town, Barrow, and Kidderminster Harriers.
However he is best known for his time in the Premier League with Hull City, where he famously guided the club to promotion in 2008 and kept them in the top flight the following season.

Brown’s first match in charge will be a high-profile second qualifying round tie against Hornchurch, the current unbeaten leaders of the National League South.

In a statement released by the club, Woodward paid tribute to outgoing managers Steele and Gash, thanking them for their “dedication, passion, and professionalism.”
The statement read: “Luke and Michael stepped into the role at an important stage for the club.
“They brought not only their experience as players but a genuine love for the game and our community.”
The duo were credited with instilling a strong work ethic and competitive culture within the squad and the club acknowledged that they had laid “important foundations” for future success.
According to Peterboroughtoday , their departure was described as amicable with the club parting ways “on the very best of terms.”
Both men were invited to remain part of the Peterborough Sports family and were thanked for their efforts.
Attention now turns to the future under Brown who is expected to bring a more seasoned managerial approach to the club’s setup.
His tactical nous and focus on player development were key factors in his selection.

Brown’s most recent post was with Kidderminster Harriers where he departed at the end of last season after failing to guide the club to promotion.
