MANCHESTER CITY opened their expanded stadium for the first time.

The club have been renovating the stand to add an extra 7,000 seats.

That has taken the Etihad capacity beyond 61,000.

The grand unveiling comes on the same day City bid farewell to Pep Guardiola as manager.

City posted on X before the Aston Villa game with a short video.

It showed the view panning from the back of the new stand during the construction phase.

The clip then switched to the updated view with all the seats in place.

City wrote: “The Pep Guardiola stand is ready.”
