Portugal vs Spain: Nations League final marred by death of fan

UEFA have confirmed that a spectator died during Portugal’s Nations League final win against Spain in Munich on Sunday.

The supporter is reported to have fallen from the second tier of the main stand onto the seating area below.

This incident happend in the final minutes of the game at Allianz Arena.

The game was however not stopped as the spectator was treated by paramedics and stadium stewards.

But UEFA have now revealed in a statement that the person could not be revived.

“There was a medical emergency at the Munich arena, and despite the best efforts of the medical team, the person sadly passed away at 00:06 (CET),”; the statement read.

“Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this difficult time.”;
