Operatives from the Kebbi State Police Command have fatally shot one suspected bandit following an assault on Kwagware village in the Arewa Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Thursday.
He reported that the armed group invaded the village on Wednesday, November 5, stealing an undisclosed number of cows and taking residents' mobile phones.
According to him, operatives from the Yeldu Division, along with local vigilantes, pursued the attackers and engaged them in a gunfight, resulting in the death of one suspect while the others fled with gunshot injuries.
Abubakar mentioned that residents set fire to an unregistered Boxer motorcycle, and a Tecno mobile phone was recovered from the scene.
He stated that additional police tactical units, military personnel, and vigilantes have been deployed to the area to restore peace and prevent further assaults.
The state Commissioner of Police, Bello M. Sani, praised the operatives and encouraged them to continue their efforts against criminal organizations throughout the state.
