The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the mysterious death of two young men whose corpses were discovered in a canal along the LASU-Igando Road, Iba, Lagos.

The bodies, found in the early hours of Tuesday, were reportedly bound, with their hands tied behind them and blue trash bags fastened tightly around their necks.

The disturbing scene has fuelled suspicion that the victims may have been tortured and suffocated before being dumped.

A lawyer residing in the area, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the case, described the killings as having ritualistic undertones.

“I was passing the bridge on Tuesday when I noticed people gathered around the spot. The corpses were clean, which suggested to me that they were killed elsewhere before being dumped. Their hands were tied behind them, and the bags around their necks looked deliberately tightened. It clearly points to torture,” the resident said.

Confirming the incident, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Babaseyi Oluseyi, said the corpses had been recovered and moved to the Mainland General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

“The command has commenced investigations to ascertain the identity of the victims and unravel the circumstances surrounding their death,” Oluseyi stated.

DAILY POST reported a similar case last week, when five corpses were discovered along a riverbank in Oreta, Igbogbo, Ikorodu. Police investigations later linked those deaths to cult clashes.
