The Katsina State Police Command has disbursed a total of N10.9 million to families of officers who died in active service.

The cheques were presented on Thursday, July 25, to 34 beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance and the IGP’s Family Welfare Scheme for next of kin of deceased officers.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, was represented at the event by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, DCP Aminu Gusau.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, on Friday in Katsina.

The statement quoted CP Shehu as commending the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his compassion towards the families of fallen officers and his commitment to improving the welfare of personnel and their loved ones.

“The CP appreciated the IGP for his unflinching dedication to the welfare of police officers and urged the beneficiaries to see the gesture as a tribute to the sacrifices made by their loved ones. He prayed for the repose of their souls and encouraged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds wisely.”

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Nuhu Bello Gohe thanked the IGP for the prompt intervention and assured that the funds would be put to good use.
